Quick Answer

Young babies often wake for feeds. Frequent waking does not mean you have failed at bedtime.

Start with safety

Place your baby on their back in a firm, flat crib or bassinet, with no pillows, loose blankets, or toys. A sofa or armchair is not a safe infant sleep space.

Keep the night simple

Use low light and a calm voice during nighttime care. A short, repeated sequence can make evenings more predictable; it cannot guarantee sleeping through the night.

Make space for your rest

Ask a trusted adult to take a specific task, and explain your safe-sleep routine. Discuss feeding or persistent sleep concerns with your pediatrician.
